In early discussions with St Andrews Lutheran College, ARKI Environments proposed a trial classroom of furniture to use across mutliple year levels.  This full term trial enabled the project team to evaluate, modify and form their solutions.

In close collaboration with the Burling Brown design team, colours and finishes were designed to enhance the interior building fabric and at the same time be mindful of product longevity.

The Centre for Creative Industries brings together various spaces including: Multi use studios, Film & TV, Digital Technology, Fashion, Robotics, Manual Arts and Engineering.

The ARKI team worked extensively with Architectus over an 12 month period to develop learning space concepts for the Villanova leadership team. During this time the building footprint changed to accommodate new ideas, new thinking & new ways of working, to ultimately deliver an outstanding state of the art learning hub for year 5, 6 & 12 students.

ARKI brought together solutions from a suite of local & global Steelcase brands (Orangebox, Smith Systems, Turnstone) & Konfurb to solve the solutions setting challenge.

The Learning Hub was built around the students, with a desire to create a university-like environment that encourages collaboration through learning and social interaction

Within the Learning Hub, the College was equally innovative with the furniture and layouts, taking on the task of furnishing of the new building themselves. Initially they short listed seven suppliers, and invited them to the school to talk about the collaborative spaces and how to make them work.

They soon settled on Steelcase’s as the main supplier, as its wide range of collaboration products were a natural fit for creating learning and social collaboration spaces.

Peter Gazzola, Director of Innovation, at St. Andrew’s Anglican College, says: “The range of furniture Steelcase offered, like the media:scape and Regard are just so different from what anyone else has on the market, and are particularly suited to those collaborative social spaces.”
